(More customer reviews)when i ordered this shelf about a month ago, it was listed as shipped by [...] i also saw it listed on the target site. but after receiving it and having a bad experience with it, coincidentally it's no longer on the [...] site and target is no longer listed as the merchant on amazon.com. i guess i shouldn't be surprised given all the bad reviews i previously read about this product. i really liked the way it looked, so i ordered it anyway -- but the reviews were definitely right: it's missing all the hardware needed to put it together (screws, screw caps) and it's very difficult to put together. my husband spent a long time on it, and even ended up using wood glue to help make it more sturdy. i wish they had thought about the finish-out more too: the silver screw caps are very large and visible throughout. a review that i previously read [but can no longer find] recommended using white round address labels to cover these up. we got this for our son's nursery -- so while i wasn't expecting high-end, better quality would have been good.

Mori 5-Shelf Bookcase Review

I ordered this bookcase from Target for my grandaughter's room and when it arrived I noticed that the shipping box was labeled "Mori 5 shelf Bookcase - Color Espresso". Sure enough, I opened one end of the box and saw that it was dark brown/black. The pictures all show only a white bookcase with no options for any other color. Foolish me for thinking it would be white - after all, the color description on the Target website and Amazon is "Painted". Apparently that means the actual color shipped is "dealers choice"?

For something so large and with the potential of holding a great deal, the flat-pack design with assembly and no hardware shouldn't have been selected in my opinion. Although when assembled, the bookcase is not as sturdy as I'd like, it probably is fine. Relatively speaking, I seem to have gotten the bookcase for a steal at $196.18 shipped given the total cost through other merchants. I would not likely buy this again and would instead look for fully-assembled and more rigid options.
The two-piece back should be one solid panel or at least been packed as a hinged, folding panel to be more rigid. The shelves should be secured to the back panels somehow, and they aren't. Installing the top panel on one side kept causing the side panel to slide out of alignment along the entire height of the bookcase. This is due to the tight fit and tab/hole side-back joint design. The side panel slid enough to cause the tabs and holes to separate, and this wasn't easy to correct. Buyers would be best to assemble this on a hard surface instead of carpet. If assembling on carpet, lay the bookcase down, push the bottom flush against a baseboard, and then use the mallet to insert the top. This will help keep the side panels from sliding and separating from the back.

Guidecraft Double-Sided Bookcase Review

(More customer reviews)Overall, this is a very nice bookcase, that will last for many many years. I bought this bookcase because our local toy store uses them in their book corner, so I pretty much knew what I was getting. There is tons of room for all of his books and also serves as a nice toy display, it looks quite handsome, and is sturdy. The reason that it gets only four starts is that the castors are a little puny, making it difficult to slide across the floor, but at least it doesn't scratch. It also had a bit of a chemical-like odor straight out of the box. It wasn't that strong (definitely nowhere near as bad as most flat-pack furniture) and dissipated quickly, it didn't really bother me and I'm usually sensitive to those kinds of odors. Also, the bookshelves aren't tall enough for oversized books (like the How Does a Dinosaur... series), so you either have to stack them flat or display them on the side. Also, the side displays are nice, but a little wobbly. I am very pleased with this purchase, and would definitely buy Guidecraft again.

Anna Tall Bookcase Review

Still have not received it nor any feedback as to it's actual shipping date. Paid a stupid amount of money for it and ridiculous shipping cost. I think this is the root of my irritation plus my guess it's made of pine and MDF and I will have to put this (insert expletive) together. I seriously could have built a sturdier version of this by now. I got the option to review this in my email before actually getting it, I couldn't resist.

I've been looking everywhere for shelves and nearly all of them are wood board and veneers, plus they were in the $300 range. I decided to get 'cheap and cheerful' shelves to use now while I take my time finding the perfect set. So I ordered two ladder shelves from target.com. Two days later they arrived, I put them together in less than an hour and they look fantastic. I'm not even going to look for my 'good' shelves anymore. I've already got them. (More customer reviews)HORRIBLE...just horrible. I never write reviews but this product was simply worth my time so no one else has to waste theirs. First of all, the finish (espresso) is not at all as advertised. It is actually more of a burnt tobacco. It will NOT match any espresso furniture you buy at Target, Ikea, Walmart, Living Spaces or any other comparable store. I was beyond disappointed. As if the color didn't piss me off enough, the finish wasn't even finished. There are large rough patches that feel as if they need to be sanded. The color is inconsistent and simply unfinished. It is rough and looks dirty. As for size and construction, it is as advertised but it does require assembly and does NOT come with those plastic screw covers so your handywork will absolutely show. All in all, don't bother.

(More customer reviews)Overall this product is just O.K. If you're looking for an item that is going to be abused and rarely seen then this may not be a bad choice. I had to reorder this item because the first one I received was not only damaged but also defective. The door had big gash in it and one of the pieces was missing all the holes which were supposed to be pre-drilled in it. Although it was easy to assemble, the end product was not of very good quality; the silver metal hardware is exposed and the overall structure does not feel very solid or stable. For right now it will have to do. The positive part of this experience was dealing with Amazon's customer service. Everyone was very helpful and friendly; corrected the situation in a timely and painless fashion.
