(More customer reviews)I got this item on sale with free shipping, so I only paid about $120. This bookshelf is great quality and looks good in my living room. It doesn't look cheap like some of the other bookshelves I've seen in this price range. The only flaw is that the directions have no writing, so if you're good with pictures and arrows you should be okay, but if you rely on written directions it can be a bit confusing to follow. Fortunately I got it right on the first try and it went together quickly and easily once I figured out what I was doing.

We knew it would require some assembly, but my husband was amazed at the number of "little bitty" parts involved in building this piece. 2 1/2 - 3 hours later, he had it finished. It's beautiful and looks great in our guest bedroom. It looks more expensive than the 169.00 we paid for it! We're looking for another lower console-type piece to match it.

It's a great set, especially for the price. It does take a while to put together (and I've put together two full sets of it, for my son and daughter's rooms), but you get what you pay for.

The Summer Breeze Bookcase Headboard features plenty of storage space to highlight bedroom decor. It is part of a coordinating bedroom set in Vanilla Cream, but it also coordinates with the Natural Maple and Pure White collections from South Shore. The headboard features five open storage cases and one full-length shelf. It also includes an oversized decorative molding and rounded shapes to coordinate with other pieces in the complete set. A wiring hole for an alarm clock or radio adds utility. Crafted of engineered wood panels entirely made from recovered and recycled material, the headboard is designed for durability and eco friendliness. It is covered by a 5-year warranty on parts and materials. Some easy assembly is required on arrival. Overall, the twin-sized headboard measures 48 inches high by 42 inches wide by 10 inches deep. Camden County Three Shelf Bookcase Planked Cherry Review

(More customer reviews)I recently purchased two of these three shelf planked cherry bookcases. They have some good features and some not so great features. Lets start with the good:
Good 1) The bottom, top, sides, and shelves appear very sturdy. These peices are very thick (1 inch I think). I feel confident that they can hold a good amount of weigth. The instructions say 50lbs for the bottom shelf and 35lbs for each of the other two without them bowing. The thickness also makes the item look quite good.
Good 2) Its pretty easy to assemble. It didnt take me long at all.
Good 3) I really like the way the unit looks over all.
Now for the bad parts.
Bad 1) The "engineered laminated wood" appears to basically be partical board and if it gets a deep scratch its going to show badly unless its repaired somehow.
Bad 2) The back side of the shelves is an extremely thin peice that nails on. It also comes folded into three sections. Because its folded, there are two vertical seams on the back side which arent really visible if the shelves have stuff on them. I dont think this peice is ever going to be nailed on perfectly flat against the main unit either.
Bad 3) The primary reason I am giving this less stars is that the its not exactly as pictured. The only difference is that the shelves are adjustable and so the typical two rows of holes on the sides for placing shelves are there. It appears the holes have been removed from the picture somehow because they are very visible on the real model. They dont look bad, but the picture isnt right.
All that being said Im very happy with my purchase of this bookcase considering the price.

The directions featured no written instructions, only a few pictures. My husband and I together didn't have enough hands to hold the three middle shelves in place while we screwed in the end to hold them. The shelves kept popping out of their notches and sliding, chipping and scratching the veneer every time they did so. The screw holes for tightening the top shelf were very poorly aligned and difficult to reach. By the time we had finished, our brand-new piece of furniture was badly scratched and dented. It looks all right from a distance, but I could not recommend this item.

We didn't buy the other part of the set to make it a captain bed (the part under the bed with the drawers) and it still works fine. It's not attached to the bedframe or anything but it's pushed against the wall and the bed so it's not exactly in danger of moving. It's been perfect for my daughter to put all her books/toys/cds in and we all love it.
